Luvern on Laughs – Comedy at The Station Coffee House And Gallery
Every Thursday night there’s a free comedy show in Brantford. New people come out to see what all the fuss is about each week and comedians travel from all over Southern Ontario to perform their style of magic on stage. Tonight we had a blast of laughs right from the beginning of the night with Chris Jarvie. Now, you have to understand that Chris produces very successful comedy shows in Waterdown and Burlington so he knows how it’s done. He pretended to be Michael Moses tonight telling Michael’s jokes! This was especially hilarious to the other comedians, and regular comedy fans such as myself and Dean Ellis. Although the room wasn’t packed full, the audience who did attend seemed to really enjoy themselves by interacting with the comedians. Personally, I love how the comedians are friends with each other. This brings a special sort of laughter to the room as they feed off each other throughout the night. It’s important to get the crowd laughing, and with these characters poking fun at each other, it truly does make for a bunch of unexpected and off-the-cuff laughs.
The Big Bopper Bob drove in from Kitchener to give us his best impressions which were all worthy of an applause break. An ‘applause break’ (as it’s called in the comedy industry) is way better than people laughing. Way to go Bob! Bob’s comedy includes many topics and his presence on stage is unforgettable.
I’d love to go into detail about each comedian who went on stage tonight, but it’s better if you come and see for yourself. The other comedians on the show tonight were: Erinn White, Amber Dewar, Mirali Almaula, Ivan Kovalenko, and Ben Healey; who closed out the show. There was plenty of female talent tonight which brought an awesome perspective of dating, lesbian life, and virginity. These topics were lighthearted, and delivered with such ease by each performer. T’was truly a pleasure for me to listen to their craft.
Michael Moses hosts this show each week and he shares stories about growing up in Alberta, as well as tidbits about his family history. He’s very friendly and chatty with the crowd; regardless where you sit. He’ll find you, ask you a question, and all of a sudden, you’re a part of the show which automatically gives you a fun memorable night. The general feeling at this comedy show is one of being in your own living room with good (and somewhat sarcastic) friends. LOL Mark your calendars for Thursday February 18th because we want you to add to the laughter and enjoy the next show!
