Behind the Scene – St Leonard’s Soup Challenge
Behind the Scene – St Leonard’s Soup Challenge
The alluring aroma of freshly prepared soup lingered in the halls of the Best Western Plus Brant Park Inn & Conference Centre, as hundreds lined up to enter the 11th annual St Leonard’s Soup Challenge. Inside, businesses and organizations from all across #Brantford set up displays and handed out soup by the ladleful. A $10 admission was a small price to pay to enjoy the many different offerings in support of St. Leonard’s Youth Homeless Week. There were 16 varieties of soups to try and each could be judged on three criteria; Best Presentation, Most Creative, and People’s Choice. Flavours such as: poutine soup, bacon double cheeseburger, butter chicken, Zuppa Toscana, Thai coconut carrot with bamboo shoots, and so many more. At the end of the night over 500 people had visited and cast votes for the winners.
They are as follows.
Best Presentation – Getaway restaurant, OLG Casino – Zuppa Toscana
Most Creative – Zander’s Fire Grill and Brew Lounge – Bacon Double Cheeseburger
People’s Choice – Strodes BBQ & Deli / Strodes Express – Butter Chicken
The event was an incredible success, and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. Comments such as “Why did you only get one bowl?”, “This one is my favourite”, and “You’ve gotta try this”, could be heard as you waited in line for a bowl. Congratulations to all of the volunteers and partners who made this event possible. Make sure to Be Seen at next year’s St. Leonard’s Soup Challenge.
